MIL-H-22072 §4.6.7 - Cloud Temperature
We perform hydraulic fluid quality testing by Military Specification MIL-H-22072 to find the cloud temperature of a grade of catapult hydraulic fluid. The sample is heated by degrees at a controlled rate; if the sample becomes hazy, and does not clarify after being shaken and cooled to room temperature, the temperature where haze occurred is recorded as the cloud temperature. If the sample returns to its original clarity, no cloud temperature is recorded.
We also perform cloud point testing by ASTM D2500, ASTM D5771, ASTM D5773, DIN 51597, FTM 202, FTM 203, IP 444, IP 446, ISO 3015, and MIL-DTL-17111 §4.5.3.2. These different test methods use different instruments or procedures or are used for certain sample types. Click on the test method number to learn more about each test.
