ASTM D56 - Flash Point by Tag Closed Cup Tester

We perform testing by ASTM D56 to measure the lowest temperature at which jet fuel vaporizes to form an ignitable mixture; this is called the flash point. This test is useful for measuring the volatility and purity of a material. Flash Point by ASTM D56 uses a tag manual or automated closed cup tester. A sample is placed in the closed cup and is heated. An ignition source is directed into the cup at regular intervals until the sample vapor ignites or 'flashes.'
