ASTM D5773 - Cloud Point - Constant Cooling Rate Method

We perform fuel testing by ASTM D5773 to determine the temperature where biodiesel fuel or petroleum products begin to gel, forming crystals or ‘clouds.’ This can lead to plugged filters and other engine performance problems in cool weather.

This test method only covers petroleum products and biodiesel fuels that are transparent in layers 40mm thick.

We also perform cloud point testing by ASTM D2500ASTM D5771DIN 51597FTM 202FTM 203IP 444IP 446ISO 3015MIL-DTL-17111 §4.5.3.2, and MIL-H-22072 §4.6.7. These different test methods use different instruments or procedures or are used for certain sample types.
